A weighted plate of steel is suspended delicately by three interchangeable spheres. The largest sphere includes three cavities for the option to burn up to three incense sticks at once. In an attempt to remove the hand of the designer, Charlap Hyman & Herrero developed an algorithm to fracture and break the outline of the plate. The ‘shard’ shape and high polish of the plate evoke a piece of broken mirror, almost in contradiction to the impermeable stainless steel material it is made out of. The mirrored finish of the piece allows the objects to disappear in a spectacular way; at the same time reflecting back the stillness of the room, tranquility of the mind, and the soft spirit of the burning incense. Due to the hand-made nature of this piece, minor imperfections may occur
