Recycled Marble Candelabra

Tom Dixon

About the Designer:

Dixon rose to prominence as an industrial designer in 1991 with his “S Chair” for Cappellini. It was followed by other luminaires designs, sometimes with an experimental feel, his “Pylon Chair” and “Jack”, a lighting and seating object. In 1998, he was appointed Head of Design and later Creative Director by the Habitat home furnishing chain, working there until 2008. In parallel he established the “Tom Dixon” brand in 2002. The brand first attracted the attention with “Fresh Fat”, a range of plastic furniture. From 2004 through 2009, Dixon was Creative Director for Finnish furniture manufacturer Artek

About the Candelabra:

Swirl is a series of geometric forms stacked upon one another to create multi-dimensional, functional sculptures. The unique process involves recycling the powdered residue from the marble industry, mixed with pigment and resin to create blocks of material that can then be sawn, sliced and turned on a lathe. Substantial in weight, smooth in texture and bold in pattern, swirl will inject a fresh pop sensibility into any setting
